May 2018
Hello Preschool Families May 2018
For the month of May we will be talking about insects and bugs. We will learn the body parts of an insect and what makes insects different than bugs. We will learn some new insect/bug vocabulary words. We will watch a few educational you tube clips to help teach us about this topic.
This week we are just touching upon the topic and learning what makes an insect.
We will have a few new toys out to play with – k'nex, magnet dress up dolls, bristle blocks, alphabet transformers, felt board and felt pieces, and of course magnet tiles.
We will have sand with letter sea shells and tools to play with. Also we will have water beads and bugs in the water tables.
Our dress up area will be food, dishes, and babies. We will build bug homes in our block area.
Miss Taylor is ordering us 5 caterpillars to watch turn into a butterflies – hopefully they arrive soon.

March newsletter
Hello preschool families:
The next couple of weeks we will be reading different stories of the Three Little Pigs, and comparing how they are the same and different. We will try to act out the story as well. In our listening center we have a few different fairy tales for the children to listen to on their own.
We will turn into the big bad wolf and do some straw blowing art, paint pigs at the easel, and create a wanted poster for the wolf. They will also have time to do free art, and Miss Dawn put a few new things in the free art supplies to "spice it up".
We will also play a Big Bad Wolf Game where the children will use a straw to blow through to move different materials such as paper, marbles, rocks, feathers and more. The children will do their best to record what will and will not move down the box when they blow it.
Our dress up area has turned into a – construction site – the children will need to wear a hard hat and safety glasses to "work" in this area. They have tools, long blocks to use as wood, tool belts, work boots and gloves, safety goggles, and hard hats. Lots of fun!!!
The block area has pigs and wolves in the animal bin. Retelling the story – The Three Little Pigs using blocks with the pigs, wolf, and houses taped on them (picture posted on the blog), and different materials to use to build houses with – paper (straw), Popsicle sticks (sticks), small Legos (bricks).
I also added marble works, Duplo Legos, Locktagon building pieces in our manipulative shelf.
I am hoping to get back to our Letter City homework this week – Our letters this week are Mm and Nn.
