March - Building theme

Hello Preschool Families:                                            March 2019

Welcoming March with open arms and hopefully warm weather.   This month our theme is building: building houses, construction, blocks, different structures around the world, and fun with boxes.

Our dramatic play area will turn into a work bench to use our imagination to build and use tools.

Our block area has a building challenge for the children to try using cardboard pieces, tubes, wooden pieces, and clothes pins.  There are also pictures of different buildings and structures from around the world for the children to try and build.   The children have construction men, trucks, wooden arches, and blocks as well to use in the block area.

Our classroom was taken over by magical fairies.  A wonderful addition for the children to use their imagination and make believe.  There are several fairies, gnomes, small house, and pieces for the children to set up a village and play.

Academics this week we started our new sign in where the children are practicing writing their name or part of their name (age and ability depending) They are working very hard.  Last week we started our math journals.  We will continue our Handwriting Without Tears writing letters or making letters with wooden pieces (age depending).  Practicing counting, letter sounds, rhyming, and more.
