Jan Update

I hope everyone had a lovely break.  My apologies for not sending this out sooner we have been very busy here at preschool.

This month we are talking about community helpers.  This week we will wrap up the firefighters week and start next week with the police officers week.  The children have loved playing in our dress up area that is now a fire station.  As well as the block area with the different community helpers, vehicles, road signs, and more.  Its great to see their imaginations coming out in their play.  We also have a small playset for grocery store and a fire station that are quite popular.  We will end our month be talking about the post office.

Our preschoolers drew special pictures that we sent to a nearby nursing home.  We talked to the preschoolers about how they can not have visitors and their pictures will cheer them up.  Many of the children were so excited to draw their picture.

We started our Handwriting Without Tears - the older preschoolers are practicing writing different letters and the younger preschoolers are tracing the letters with their fingers.

We started Letter City this week!  Talking about different letters, letter sounds, and things that start with those letters - we look at different objects that start with those letters.  You can help at home by also talking with your child about things that start with those letters.

We also started our math chart!  We will work through 1-10, counting out objects, doing tally marks, math hands and more.  We follow a chart that is posted in our classroom.

So such new learning going on with this new year!!

February we will be learning about Shapes & Balls - stay tuned!
